I'm trying to get some information on this horn that I just received in trade. It is a Bach Model 72 MLV, serial number 336877.

Looks like brushed brass finish, truely gorgeous sound and the best valves I've ever played. Very dark, almost like a cornet.

If anyone has any info on this horn, I would appreciate knowing, particularly it's value, rarity, and history.

Thanks.

Many of the MLV horns come with either a 43 or 44 leadpipe. The tuning slide is a smaller diameter at the top than it is at the bottom, but the outside diameter remains the same. This makes it possible to use the same tuning slide in any of the b-flat horns. A few of the MLV horns come with a 65 bell which is larger and darker than the 72 bell. Great sounding horns, but you're not going to play lead on it. Nice for lyrical solos.
