From my email today

My husband and I have received a Bach Stradivarius trumpet that belonged to his mother. The model is 239G and is silver. We were wondering if you could tell me the year and its value. We would like to insure it if need be. We are music family and want to pass it down to our kids with information to give them. The only thing I do know is that it is made in Elkhart Indiana. Thank you for any help.

This is a C trumpet, which is commonly used in classical music, and would be used in a more syphony type of setting. From your serial number, it would be from 1977-1978. The G on the bell indicates the bell made of Gold Brass, and the CL, indicates a large bore.

With regards to value, read this thread to understand how to understand the value of your trumpet.

Hope this helps.
