Hi, just found my father-in-laws trumpet. Was wondering if anyone could provide info on it.... It's silver with engraved bell: "Made by Frank Holton. Elkhon Wis" There's a few letters after Holton that i can make out. Serial # 36913. According the SN chart it's from around 1916ish but it has marking "Pat. Oct 21 1924"

Thanks.

It's hard to say. Sometimes the serial numbers were not sequential in order, or was built with other parts left over during building the trumpet. This was also right at the transition from Chicago to Elkhorn, WI. I've also seen examples where different parts of a trumpet were replaced with other parts (ie. bells, leadpipes, ...) during the life of the trumpet. I'm assuming this patent inscription is on the main tuning slide?

BTW - here's a link to the patent referenced on your trumpet.

Thanks, I'll keep this in my records in case I get other examples like this.
