Just purchased a Bach, Strad., model LR180S37. I noticed that the engraving on the bell is very faint, almost unlegible to the bare eye. Is this typical of the newer horns and the way they are engraved or stamped??

This is the new engraving process they now use versus the older stampling process used.... I've seen examples from the mid 2000s that are almost illegible. This is a mistake for 20 years from now you won't be able to read their brand anymore...

On older horns it usually means the horn was overbuffed when refurbished. Wonder why Back decided to go this way. One thing I like about early Holtons is there was no problem reading the engraving.

Same thing with mine (barely can read the engravings). Probably a manufacturer's defect or just happens after years of playing. But no doubt, still is a solid trumpet!
