A musical friend to whose teenage son I lent my Holton Collegiate has returned my trumpet. I haven't played in several years, but would like to get back into it, even if only to play in a local community band. I checked the serial # (258965) and it appears to have been made in 1954 right here in the USA. It's in rough shape, but I wonder if it's worth overhauling, based on this trumpet of similar vintage:

What do you experts think? I've seen used Yamaha YTR-2335s for <$300, so I wonder if it's worth the cost of overhauling my Collegiate, which could be as much as $500. However, I've owned it for >30 years, and would like to keep it.

Thanks kindly.
