I am new to this kind of thing. Like Catwoman, my father-in-law died a few years ago and left his daughter his trombone. It is in its original case. Serial number is 125160, and has a small 65 engraved above that. engraving says Made by Frank Holton & Co. Elkhorn, Wis. I am not so much interested in its worth as we are more interested in finding it a good home. It is in good condition with some wear to the finish on the slide area. I would appreciate finding out when it was made, and if it would be of any value to donate to a local band. Any reputable organizations in the Nashville TN area that you would recommend that would make sure a deserving student would use it? Thanks for any responses.

More than likely mfg. in 1938-1939 time frame. The 65 would have indicated the model number.
