I have a Holton Trumpet Model #48 with a serial number of 156047. Based off the serial number chart I have read, I think it was produced at the end of 1945. Does anyone know what the approximate value of this piece would be? Based on the serial numbering sequence in those years, there were only about 1200 instruments produced. I am guessing that may have been due to the constraints caused by the war effort.

Any thoughts???

The model 48, also known as the "Revelation" model was a semi-professional, top of the Holton line of that era. You are correct about the serial number, end of WW2, and more than likely constraints of not just materials, but also workers...

I've seen this model sell for a few hundred dollars, but is highly dependent on condition.
