Product Review: My Silvertone is a 1950 model, .448 bore and the bell is just under 4.5". It is one of the finest horns I've ever had. The sterling silver is supposed to yield more overtones than brass ('full' is the word my son used to describe the tone). It's hard to explain but there is a feeling of total control when playing this horn; I'm not sure if it's the sterling silver bell or what. The valves on mine have maintained excellent compression - and with its mix of brass and sterling silver it's a very attractive trumpet as well as a great player. For a video of my horn search "King Silvertone Milam" at Youtube.com
