Horn Review: I received this horn as a Christmas gift this year and was really surprised with the build quality. It is a beautiful trumpet. The sound is also very nice. It is pretty bright, and that is generally how i like my playing to sound. I also found it pretty free blowing and acrobatic between intervals. The bell seems to resonate more than expected due to the brace being put farther back towards the valves. Valves were surprisingly good, still have to break in a little more though.

This is the first C trumpet i have ever owned, so i don't exactly know what to expect out of it. Comparing it to a Bach Strad C trumpet was able to play, i just feel that the Jupiter on the same level for way less money.

One thing I found out quickly, was that a Kanstul Monette copies DO NOT work if they are designed for Bb trumpet use.

When using the Bb slide this trumpet turned into a different animal. It went from free blowing in C mode, to much more stuffy in Bb. Of corse the other slides had to be brought out a little, but for the most part if you found the tuning sweet spot, its intonation was pretty good. It is hard to compare this conversion horn to a Bb because it just doesn't quite work out right. I would use it if I wanted to carry fewer horns to church but would never use it as a primary Bb horn.

Overall, i feel that it pretty much does what it was designed to do: provide a good, inexpensive C trumpet with the added bonus of a Bb conversion.
