  1. What Have I got Here

I have a New Proportion Coronet made by Frank Holton. This is scribed on the front of the bell. At the back on one of the valves it has the word chicogo and the number 8647. it is silver with copper inside the bell. A fellow offered me $200 dollars for it but I am not sure this is the right price. Am I close. Thanks.

  2. Most likely it was mfg. in 1909-1910 timeframe in the Chicago factory, in fact here's an ad of your cornet from that same time period. (ie. >100 years old)

You should check completed auctions on eBay (under advanced search) to understand if the value your friend proposed is a good deal. The condition of your instrument will play a great importance in the value. I've seen your model sell between $150-$500 based upon the different conditions...

    Good luck.
