Thread: sticky slides

  1. sticky slides

Anyone have any rips on how to break loose some seized slides in an old cornet without damaging the horn? I am trying some heat and then freezing the horn and so far no luck. Any ideas would be much appreciated!!

  2. I've used heat/frozen before (inside my refrig...)

Consider using WD40 or penetrating oil inside the horn/slide effected... then use a cloth through the slide and hard, sharp pulls...

After that, I would take to a repair shop...

  3. Yep...tried it.

Yeah I tried that too. I would say time to send it to da shop! Thanks for the reply!

Just had this problem. Use PB Blaster instead of WD-40. It is a much better product for this application.
