  1. Extra holes in valves

I have recently seen some small holes drilled in the bottom portion of the valves. Have any of you seen this and/or what is the purpose and does it work?

  2. Those holes are to "vent" the valve. It allows the slide to quickly return to the closed position without resistance.

You'll want to make sure any vented valve has a stop on the slide, as there isn't vacuum to hold the slide in/on.
