  1. Best Valve Oil for a 1939 Bach Mercury?

    Can you recommend the best valve oil to use on a 1939 Bach Mercury? My son doesn't think that the oil he uses on his Strad would be right. Thanks!

    It really depends on how worn the valves are on the horn. (ie. more worn, means you can use a "thicker" valve oil).

    I use either Al Cass, or Hetman's valve oil on my trumpets. Hetman's makes a valve oil that is for older horns (thicker), that you may find work for your son. I would try what he's using now, and see if it is working before I would start switching.
