The 968 professional Sovereign euphonium has a slightly smaller bell to give greater control to the sound and allow better ease of use in the softer dynamics.

I bought this horn in September '05, and since then it's been in and out of the shop. When I tried it out at the store, the pistons were a bit finnicky, but I thought it was just because the pistons hadn't been properly oiled. In about a month, it became obvious that there was something wrong with it. I took it in to a local shop to have it looked at and they said the pistons were poorly fit to the casings and were breaking in very unevenly. For whatever reason, the store I bought it from doesn't think that an obvious production flaw is something covered by the warranty, so I'm more or less out of luck. That being said, when the pistons cooperate, it's a great horn. It's pretty sharp in the 6th partial, but all you have to do to fix that is learn two or three alternate fingerings (Eb isn't usually much of a problem) and it's no longer an issue. It projects well - I'm the only euphonium in a local wind band of almost 70 people and you can actually hear me when you need to -, has a great tone, and is pretty safely in tune apart from the 6th partial; apart from its terrible, costly, annoying quirks, it's a great horn to play. I really suggest getting one online or from a shop that lets you try the horn out for a decent amount of time, just to make sure you don't get a quirky misfit. WWBW has a 45-day trial period on all non-Custom Select horns.
