Pros: warm resonant sound
Cons: sluggish slides (depends on particular instrument)

The Besson 709 Bb trumpet made in USA by Kanstul is similar in design to Kanstul 709 and 609. The tone is warmer and softer than that of the Besson 800 International, making it suitable for combo and orchestral work. Response, resonance and projection are excellent. Valves are noisy as brass (rather than nylon) piston guides are used. Valve springs are quite tough, helping the speed of the piston upstroke at the expense of a harder fingering workout. Pistons are Monel with good compression. Intonation is even in all registers. Slides are inconsistent: in some models they are sluggish, in others they work fine from the start. Lacquer finish may show slight imperfections.

Overall the horn is a very good value, but may need an adjustment in a pro shop.

Pros: Quality horn, projects well. Great price when I purchased.
Cons: 3rd valve Slide very difficult to move. Valves could be better.

This trumpet is as good as anything else out there, in the fact that it will do everything you ask of it, and is a pleasure to play.

I sold my very expensive Pro horns and stuck with this trumpet, which I play on every gig.

Don't be fooled into believing this a student trumpet. No way!

If you can't make GREAT music on this, then you never will be able to.
