Pros: Extremely clean, bright sound; easy horn to get around
Cons: None noted yet.

I'm a rebound player that has not picked up a horn in 20 mumble mumble years. My Yamaha YSL-643 was stolen way back so I was on the road to a new purchase. Got a Yamaha YSL-691 but the outer slide was twisted/warped (works with my sense of humor but not with a slide); got a Getzen 1050 and it played OK - not great for me as an unpracticed trombonist - and it had some issues with a bad finish. I tried this Courtois horn and immediately fell for it. Great smooth sound even with my largely unpracticed pucker. Very clean and easy to get a good tone when the others seemed somehow "harsher," "fuzzier," or harder to slot.

One weird thing - when you attach the bell and slide, it seems that the ferrule turns backwards: it turns the proper way - it's just on the slide and not the receiver as it is on most horns.

Wonderful case - I think it is a BAM or certainly something much like a BAM. Most sexy in a weird, trombone-case kind of way.

I give it two thumbs up!
