The materials used in the manufacture of a trumpet make a big difference, not only in how it plays, but also in how long it lasts. Corrosion, for example, is a serious problem. The interior surfaces of a trumpet are constantly made damp by the water vapor in the player's breath. Many basic student horns use the least expensive, all-brass design with nickel-plated piston valves, paving the way for needless wear and tear. Designed from the start for hard student use, the Haydn HTR-335 Trumpet combines the finest materials available with a full set of professional features. Students who learn to use those features early increase their fundamental skills and set the stage for growth and success. Even better: the Haydn HTR-335 Trumpet sounds great! In fact, we're so sure you'll like our horn that we offer a money back guarantee*. Slides: Our trumpet features a 3rd slide waterkey and intonation aids like a 1st slide thumb saddle (not included on most inexpensive trumpets). As a player progresses, these features will become a requirement. All slides have nickel-silver interiors with brass exteriors. The use of two different metals on the slides prevents corrosion that occurs with standard brass-on-brass slides. Leadpipe: We use rose brass which offers better corrosion resistance than standard brass due to its higher copper content. Leadpipe bore: .459 inches. Piston Valves: Our valves are made of industry-leading Monel, a nickel-copper alloy that resists corrosion and ensures the longest possible life. Finish: We use silver plate, not just for its good looks, but because it wears better than a standard brass lacquer finish. Mouthpiece: Included with horn is a silver-plated 7C mouthpiece, the one most band directors recommend. Bell: 4.8 inch diameter Ready to play: Before we ship your Haydn trumpet, we oil the valves and lubricate the slides. We make sure it meets all of our standards before we ask it to meet yours. Every Horn Needs a Case Many student trumpets come in plastic cases. They're lightweight and compact, but what happens when you drop them? They crack. What about the old-style wood cases? They're durable and provide excellent protection to the instrument. But they're heavy and bulky. Since lots of our instruments are going into the hands of young players, we think the case should be easy to carry to school and easy to fit in a locker. That's how we settled on the Haydn cloth case. It has a hard interior, it offers great protection, it's lightweight and small, and it won't crack when dropped. Plus, it comes with two straps, so it can be carried over-the-shoulder or backpack style. http://www.brassreview.com/reviews/other/p1703-htr-335.html http://www.brassreview.com/reviews/other/p1703-htr-335.html Sun, 20 Mar 2005 08:37:09 -0500 Piccolo

by: trigeek

Description: There is an old saying that "you get what you pay for". It cost me $300 AUD whereas a real Yamaha would be close to $3000. Well this one arrived broken, see picture..Seller blamed it on postal office..but package was undamaged. Seller refused to compensate..Intonation is terrible..It doesnt even have a spit valve (I missed that one)...Enough to put you off playing an instrument...Fortunately I have 2 good Trumpets (both Yamaha Shews in trumpet and flugelhorn) so I know how a good instrument plays. Nickel silver outer slides tuning slide only. Inner-Outer first and third tuning slide design. 4 3/4 inch hand hammered yellow brass bell, in 25 gauge. Bell is one piece design with a special annealing process. Cast “S” braces individually placed during assembly. Assembly: Because Tony Scodwell is of the highest rank as a trumpet player and is equally skilled as a craftman, the Scodwells Trumpet combines the very best of both worlds. After 20 years of involvement with the layout and design of trumpets for several manufactures, Scodwell decided that for him to maintain the exceptional standards he required in his trumpets, they would have to be assembled personally in his shop, playing each instrument throughout the assembly for optimum results. Starting with the raw valve cluster, leadpipes are added, carefully following prescribed specifications. These specifications do not vary. From this point, numerous bells are play-tested with the valve/leadpipe assembly until a balanced match is obtained. Usually, it is with a group of top level trumpeters listening and playing to the numerous combinations. Once a bell is selected, it is mounted to the valve/leadpipe assembly only at the rear of the instrument. Careful buffing and soldering of the bell bead wire is done and once again the horn is play-tested at this stage to determine the exact placement of the front “S” brace.Scodwell feels that this placement of the front “S” brace along with the special annealing of the bell allow the bell to project with a more clearly defined core and vibrance than the other trumpets. For these reasons, a brace is not placed between the second valve ballaster and bell, allowing the bell to work more as an integrated unit. The player will feel “life” in the instrument, not only in their hands, but on the face as well. In real world playing situations, feedback via the ears and body is vital. We do not play in Carnegie Hall every day. Scodwell feels his advantage over other makers is his ability to actually be playing at the very top levels on a regular basis. http://www.brassreview.com/reviews/other/p956-trumpets.html http://www.brassreview.com/reviews/other/p956-trumpets.html Fri, 19 Mar 2004 19:47:07 -0500 PSTT101

by: admin

Description: Features: Bore: 11.7mm Bell: 128mm Water Keys: 2 Mouthpiece: Arbiter Picture shows PSTT102 with nickel trim http://www.brassreview.com/reviews/other/p955-pstt101.html http://www.brassreview.com/reviews/other/p955-pstt101.html Thu, 18 Mar 2004 21:15:24 -0500 4803

by: admin

Description: 1st and 3rd valve slide hooks Nickel silver valves Gold brass bell Designer Gig Bag http://www.brassreview.com/reviews/other/p954-4803.html http://www.brassreview.com/reviews/other/p954-4803.html Thu, 18 Mar 2004 21:13:50 -0500 4800

by: admin

Description: 1st and 3rd valve slide hooks Nickel silver valves Designer gig bag http://www.brassreview.com/reviews/other/p953-4800.html http://www.brassreview.com/reviews/other/p953-4800.html Thu, 18 Mar 2004 21:12:55 -0500 BBTP-49 Standard Trumpet

by: admin

Description: Standard Bb Trumpet with gold epoxy lacquer finish and nickel trim, medium large (ML) .460" bore, 4-7/8" bell, monel pistons, 2 traditional style water keys, adjustable 3rd valve tuning slide ring. The "Puje" (pronounced "pudgy") Bb trumpet is only about 14" long and has a .460 bore and uses a trumpet mouthpiece, has monel valves, 3 Amado water keys, and a shepherd's crook bell. Its philosophy is to incorporate the best features of a trumpet, cornet, and flugelhorn. Bobby's designs are quite innovative and compact. This model has a tuning loop between the tail of the bell and the 1st valve that allows the player to adjust the horn's length just as he or she would adjust the 1st valve crook. It is made with heavy weight brass. This horn is easy to hold and fun to play; perfect for jazz, club dates and solo work. The sound could be described as "in between" a cornet, flugel and trumpet (more trumpet than flugal)-- wonderfully soft, lyrical and pleasant, but with attiude if you summon it. It can meow one minute and be screaming the next if you step on its tail! This horn is, to say the least-- unique. But don't let its "cute" looks fool you, this is a serious and gutsy professional instrument. **This model has the optional "Dizzy G" up turned bell.
