Pros: Price, Tone, Valves
Cons: No intonation aide on 1st valve

This is also sold by Jack Kanstul as the "Custom Built" Kanstul. They call it an entry level horn, but other than the fact that it doesn't have intonation aide for the 1rst slide (saddle), I can't for figure out why it's considered entry level. Tone is very close to Bach 37, although just a tad brighter. Very responsive and resonent. The valves are very smooth, and have a relatively short throw which makes them seem even faster. This is my first Kanstul - If this is their entry level, I can't imagine what the pro line plays like. I'm a part-time player and this is all the horn I'll ever need.

Pros: excellent intonation, fast/smooth valves, rich sound
Cons: can't think of ANY

Like the other reviewer, I can't find anything "entry level" about this horn. It feels very much like my buddies' Bach Strads, slots very well, rish sound throughout the register, etc. Over at trumpetherald.com, there are some great reviews on this horn, one says that this horn kicks the butts of the Kanstul 700 and 900! Got this from Kanstul via their "trumpet deal," or $40/month for 20 months for a total of $800. Great way of buying a quality, custom trumpet from a boutique horn builder that'll last for many years of trouble free playing. Someone complianed about the direction of the spit valves, but they work well, so what's the diff really?

Pros: Great tone, great intonation, made very well
Cons: No first slide hook

Wow, this is a good trumpet. Kanstul makes great horns from top of the line to entry level. This may be entry level but it's very good. As the other reviewers said its sound does resemble the Bach Strad; I think I like Kanstul valves better though. Mine is lacquer. I hear the silver plated ones are great, too.
