Description:
TL5

I have made some changes to the TL5 for 2004. I have opened the bell taper a little to aid in the upper register. This will allow for a more open feel as you go up. The TL5R (red brass) will also have the more open feel but the red brass bell will allow you to push the dynamic a little further before the highs kick in. Both Lawler TL5's are full bright sounding trumpets with strong highs and mids in the sound. The very fast response is evident as in all Lawler TL models. The 1A leadpipe will give you a very centered feel with good slurs. The number 5 bell rim is a full 5 inches. The TL5 is available in .460 and .464 bores.

Pros: FREE BLOWING , GREAT VALVES , RICH TONE
Cons: ?

I bought the 2004 model TL5R-1A which has a rose brass bell. It plays very evenly throughout but is especially nice in upper register. The valves are substantially smoother than my L.A.Benge or Yamaha 737.( Both good players ) The tone will get bright but maintains a rich quality. I labored over making a selection for a new horn & am thoroughly pleased with my choice.

Pros: superb craftsmanship, excellent tone, amazing valves, Roy is a great guy to work with
Cons:

What can I say. I love my Lawler. I worked for a while with Roy to figure out which horn suited me best. He was very patient and shared his knowledge and didn't try to "guide" me to the horn he thought I should be playing. The outcome is an excellent jazz horn which has the ability to fit in where ever I go. Its dark full middle and lower register works well in concert band and small ensemble situations and the upper register lights up when pushed out there. Mine is custom engraved and gold plated. It has the Getzen valves which are just the best. This horn is everything I wanted and a whole lot more. Thanx Roy.

Cons:

I've had my Lawler TL5 about 2 years now and when I'm a setting for a high, bright sound, it's the best i've owned for the job.
Roy Lawler is a very patient man and worked with me through several ajustments to make it right for me. I won't give up my Lawler!!

Pros: Perfect intonation, open blow
Cons: none

I have been playing Lawler trumpets since 1996. The TL5 if is an unbelievable lead horn. Spot on intonation, bright sound, perfect blow. Intonation from high C to double A is great and A has a slot! Roy is fantastic to to work with and backs his horns with great service. Buy a Lawler, it will be the best thing you have ever done.
