Pros: Nice horn for the money!
Cons: Valves need constant oiling

This trumpet is actually a pretty nice little horn. It is not a "Pro" horn, but is manufactured very nicely overall. I've purchased my 416BL (Black Lacquer) in January 2003. At that time it came with a hard shell case, Jupiter 7C mpce (Bach copy), Jupiter valve oil, a neat silky cleaning cloth, and a nylon cordura gig bag. The horn has a few "quork" notes that have a slight intonation problem, but then again I've played "Pro" horn that do too. The only "negative" comment I have is that the valves need oiled everytime I play it. It not, they respond very slowly. I would like someday to have a Horn Tech. work over the valves and see what he/she could do to improve them. The finish is REALLY nice. I was very surprised at the quality of the finish.

All in all, this is a cool little horn. I play it out on gigs from time to time and people really love it. It never fails after a gig there is always one, or more, person(s) who come up and ask, "What is that little trumpet you play?".

This is horn is FUN!

Pros: Cute, plays pretty well, does well with concert goers and small kids
Cons: Not that great a tone at extremes

Great gig horn or for "meet the instrument" sessions with small kids. Have used it a few times on Christmas gigs. Draws attention due to it's size. Functionally works about like a good student to intermediate trumpet, but it is fun to play and worth what I paid for mine.

Case is well made, protective, but not overly spacious or luxurious. Of course, was it meant to be?

I doubt it!

Good horn, conversation starter, nice novelty, but NOT an everyday horn.

Pros: sound quality, valve action, price/value
Cons: 3rd valve combos slightly sharp; could use a 3rd valve slide to compensate

II bought this horn on eBay for $288 new. It is a 2000 year model that was never used - great discount. I was very pleasantly surprised by the sound, projection, valves, and playability of this little horn. All very good. I understand the Colin pocket may be produced by Jupiter, as well as a few other similar ones selling on the market. I agree with one writer -- Jupiter should switch to this design as it is reportedly of superior quality/playability. Everywhere I've read, however, says that this little Jupiter is the best in its price range, and I have

to agree. It plays a lot like my old cornet, in fact I may sell my trumpet and buy a new cornet -- I like hearing the sounds closer

Sorry, I need to clarify. This horn has 3 tuning slides. What I meant was, I wished the 3rd slide had a trigger.
