Pros: Nice sound, particularly in higher register.
Cons: Rotary valves slow compared with pistons. Blowing sometimes difficult in middle register.

Huge bell (bigger than on my Yamaha), with sound close to you. It's clearly a cornet. The sound is very nice, but in middle register it can be difficult at times (after coming down from high register), strangely; it might be just me. Upper register playing is considerably easier than on Yamaha ytr6335 (circa 1983). Rotary valves, even when well-oiled, a bit slow. Trying to play Variations on a Carnival of Venice is much easier with pistons.

It's the sound that gets me. I really like the Lidl, and keep gravitating to it. I play it more than my trumpet, 'though there are also other reasons for that. Overall the Lidl is more demanding than my trumpet, but the sound is beautiful.

Pros: rotary valves, tone
Cons: out of tune!!!

I wrote the review above not long after getting one in 2005. I have since discovered that I cannot accompany any other instruments because it is out of tune, and cannot be brought into tune across two octaves. It sits in my office for practice, but it is very disappointing to have paid so much for an instrument that is nearly as big as a cornet, from an old respected company, but which is simply not in tune. I couldn't have predicted it.
If they are reading this, perhaps they could go me halves in there bad workmanship? You sent it to me in Australia in about January 2005.
