The trumpets “Doc” designed. A quartet of instruments to satisfy the most discriminating professional and meet the most precise performing needs. These trumpets have passed Doc Severinsen’s toughest tests. Quality-wise, they are all equal but each is built differently acoustically and has a different tonal color, resistance and blowing characteristic so that every pro will find his personal choice. No mouthpiece included.
SS-1
Doc’s personal preference. Exceptionally sure footed , with greater upper register resistance, and superbly centered throughout its range. At any dynamic level, the tone of the SS-1 holds together. And whether Doc wants a brilliant, driving sound for jazz or a lyric concert tone, the SS-1 produces.
.460” bore
4 7/8” bell
SS-2
A lighter tone in the French tradition. The SS-2 has excellent projection with minimal resistance in the upper register.
.460” bore
4 7/8” bell
SS-3
A combination of a slightly brighter French tone with the German resonance. The SS-3 maintains an excellent tonal center in all registers. It also has just the right amount of resistance to give the “open” feel and still allow great control.
.460” bore
4 7/8” bell
SS-4
A darker timbre with greater resistance. The SS-4 is superbly flexible and has the “big sound” in all registers.
.464” (medium-large plus) bore
4 7/8” bell
All Severinsen trumpets have:

Pros:
Great top end - ideal studio / lead tpt
Cons:
perhaps too tight in terms of blowing resistence
Wanted something to mess about with. Bought this 2nd hand off Ebay and it's certainly a great pit trumpet. When going from my main strad 37 to this trumpet is like getting out of the Mercedes and jumping into a Lotus Seven (cars). This trumpet is nimble and quick with the ability to squeak out anything above top C. Fun trumpet but gets drowned in the local symphony orchestra when trying to compete against a section of Strads (although this could be me not having enough stamina !)
