Pros: Larger bore for the learners
Cons: SLOW VALVES

This horn is a great step up horn for your better than average-yet can't afford it high school students. Just make sure you dip the valves in oil before use. I had to pour oil into the casings to get them to work well.

Pros: Great valves, ease of response
Cons: None

Great commercial and jazz horn. Dizzy Gilespie used to own countless amounts of these trumpets......Dizzy knew a thing or two about trumpet!
These horns could match many of the custom superhorns of today.

Pros: First valve slide, nice sound when played loud
Cons: HEAVY, SLOW VALVES; thin, extremely bright tone especially in the low register; first valve slide gets in the way when marching

At least for my experience, I was not happy with this horn. It was nice as a step up from a crappy old student trumpet, but after 4 years of playing it, I felt like I was being held back and I just could not get the same tone as I could with other horns. Also, the valves are on the heavy side, so it takes a lot of work to move them, and when you are playing fast licks, they sort of shake the horn a lot and make it sound muddy.

Pros: Good slotting, great intonation, fat sound with larger mpc, solid construction
Cons: Valves heavy but not bad at all

I owned this horn since 1992 or so and sold it in'95, regretted it soon and luckily could buy back later. It's my main horn for jazz now, easy upper range and fat sound on recordings, not edgy. Outplayed many pro horns I tried.
But it may depend on this particular horn. Try before buy!

Pros: nice silver, sweet tone
Cons: slow valves

I bouoght this horn at a flea market for $40. The first thing iI noticed different than my 6x L.A. benge was that the valves were heavy. It greatly depends whether or not if it is made before the 70's. If mid 60's to early 70's then it is good. if not, then it isn't as good as a l.a. benge
