Pros: Good performance
Cons: Intonation

The 940 is an excellent "entry" level piccolo. Intonation is questionable but useable. A Blackburn pipe will really help. Fairly good sound with the right mouthpiece. It's probably the best "starter" piccolo on the market. A good condition used model will serve you well until you can move up to a Schilke, Kanstul or Stomvi.

Pros: "cheap"
Cons: intonation

nice sound but intonation is more than questionable. I was lucky I had just borrowed it. just possible to play it in A don't try in Bb.

Pros: Tone quality and projection
Cons: Intonation on both Bb and A sides

This horn is a great starter piccolo. After having played awhile on a Yamaha Custom (YTR9830), this was, surprisingly, an easy transition. This horn easily captures the bright, ringing sound of the quintessential piccolo trumpet. On the con side, however, this horn is not one to recommend to an immature player. The intonation is all over the place on both the Bb and the A side. But, with the correct approach, judicious use of the fourth valve, a sensitive ear, and perhaps some Blackburn leadpipes, this horn is an exceptional value.
