If you do alot of commercial work and use the right mouthpiece (Bob Reeves mouthpieces work best for me), this horn will serve you like no other. No problem staying on top of the section and its projection is excellent. Even though its a large bore (.468), the transition from my 1S2 was short and sweet!! Rather than focusing on additional air (elephant lungs not required), you'll find yourself simply appreciating it free blowing characteristics and its ease of projection. Oh, and by the way, this baby sings in the upper register!!
The new "Tulsa" Calicchios are probably your best bet. John Duda takes genuine pride in making the best horn humanly possible. Take it from me, it shows from the first moment you play one!!

Pros:
With the sizzle of a ML bore 1S2, but louder and accurate

Hard to hear yourself..the sound projects FORWARD!!
The horn I purchased 2 months ago, sight unseen(Ebay). Amazingly, the bell is 5". But the sound is beautiful (softly), but with power is overwhelming. Intonation is excellent, lower register the best. It does take some air, but when you get used to it, you are LEADING the band. Volume plus a commanding bright sound. Upper register effective at all volumes. My personal opinion is that the brace on this horn is much further away from the end of the bell than on 1S2, etc. This allows greater bell vibration than on most Calicchios, thus greater sizzle than normal(not to mention what the "Z" berylium bell does).
