Pros: Projection and bore size
Cons: Not as exclusive as some Shilkes

I have been a lead trumpet player for more than twenty-five years playing a wide variety of music with numerous musical groups and artists. I have played Schilkes, Bach Strads, Yamahas, Holtons, Conns, and Benges. Jazz and Contemporary Christian music have been the majority of my work in the last decade and no horn has met the musical demands like the Benge 7x. It was custom made for me by Benge in 1991 with the smallest 1 piece bell and a .468 bore size. The trumpet is well suited for jazz with a bright sound that maintains tonality throughout its amazing range. Double high C is no problem for this trumpet because of how freely the air passes through the horn. Even after more than fifteen years of use, the finish is still beautiful and the valves have maintained excellent compression along with exceptional response time. If you are an inspiring jazz musician who enjoys playing songs like Gonna Fly Now, don't hesitate in purchasing one of the amazing Benge X series trumpets. You will not be disappointed.

Pros: Great sound, nice dark sound and good projection
Cons: Lots of air

Mine is a 1976 trumpet. I got it before instrument prices sky rocketed a few years ago.

Pros: Great sound, sizzles in upper register, good craftmanship
Cons: Can't find any

I purchased a used Benge 6x as I had been looking for a backup to my Yamaha XENO YTR-8345 that is really heavy. Well This Horn is Great!! Really lightweight, and the valves are just as smooth as my Xeno which i purchased new. The sound is a 10!! Nice and warm in the Low Register and bright and sizzly in the Upper register. I've only taken my Xeno out of the case once since i got the Benge 6X. The only difference is the the 3rd valve slide on the Benge does not slide out automatically when you press the 3rd valve like it does on the Xeno But that is all. I thought that there would be a "Big" difference going from the .462 bore on my Xeno to the .468 on the Benge but I didn't notice it much at all. This is a Great Horn!!!!
