A lot of people have been unimpressed by recent Benge trumpets so I was initially reluctant to give this horn a try. I saw it in some of the trade shows and it made me curious - it is a nice looking horn. After trying this next to several other high-end trumpets, I was quite impressed.
The valves are firmer than I am used to but after a while I found that they are quite fast. The entire valve assembly is well constructed to allow proper action at most angles and it seems that the throw is shorter than most other trumpets.
The Renegade's tone is really warm. This is achieved through the combination of different colored brasses, thick finish, and heavier weight. It is my orchestra horn so for me this is a plus.
It seems quire responsive as well, allowing me to hit more notes faster and more easily.
I think Benge has succeeded in making a quality horn. Give it a try; you'll be impressed.

This horn I recently purchased on ebay and what a find! Not only was this horn in "Mint" condition, this trumpet really played quite well and boy can this horn really sing! A slightly warm tonal quality on this "Millennium Limited Edition Benge" is what you can expect when you play this horn. Intonation was excellent. This horn has a nice rounded fat tone with a feeling of control at the same time. Slotting appeared to be easier with this trumpet. The craftsmanship in regards to the finish and assembly was also top notch! The horn feels very comfortable to hold in ones hands. This horn looks like it would be a heavy weighted horn but's it's actually quite the opposite. I also own Schike, Kanstul, Bach & Zeus trumpets and this one ranks right up there with them big boys! I also have to admit I was'nt quite sure what to expect from a "UMI" Benge, but in one word "AWESOME"

Although I have not had this horn long, I would say it is amongst a small group of elite horns, BU400,Strad, Conn Vin one, etc. That is my opinion.
