F. Besson "Marvin Stamm" model. Bore is .464". Includes set of regular and weighted valve caps, valve cap spacers, monel valves. Bullet Case is standard. Available in lacquer.
Valve spacers
Prevents bottom caps from being fully tightened onto the casing, but instead onto the spacer. This allows for a lessening of the resistance in the "blow" of the trumpet and lets the horn "open up".
Weighted bottom valve caps
Centers the sound and defines the "slots" of the notes a bit more distinctly. In the circle of the color spectrum, they broaden the sound and accent the darker colors while taking nothing away from the brighter side of the spectrum.
Square bend tuning crook
Defines the notes clearly and brightens the sound a bit while taking nothing away from the warmth of the trumpet. It also quickens the response of the attacks.
Single radius tuning crook
Lessens the resistance in the blow while warming the color spectrum. It takes a bit of the effort away from the player required to push the limits of their stamina, but still allows for the full range of colors in the sound.

Pros:
Big deep fat sound in all registers
Cons:
Monel Pistons
I picked this up from an estate sale looking for a jazz horn to be played against Strads and Monets.
The sound is deep the feel is very open and it has excellent intonation.
The Monel pistons seems a little rough compared to my Getzens, however a local repair shop replaced the valve springs and suggested a different teflon treated valve oil. With this done, I luv this horn.
Great value for the money...

Pros:
construction, sound, great finish, quick valves, great projection
Cons:
minimal history of Besson available
I bought this 94BA used but in excellent condition. Made by Kanstul in the USA. Had it chem cleaned, new corks, felts, etc. It has a great sound: full, solid, somewhat dark in all registers. Easy high registers. It can blow the roof off a tall barn if necessary or, if wanted, can blend with a full orchestra. Easy to play, really solid construction, great finish, but a little heavy. This horn is about 60 years old and should last another 60. Not as bright as my Getzen but stronger than my King... Would much rather have a used Besson than most new horns. You can get a great used Kanstul produces Besson for a reasonable price; also read everything available since Besson instruments have been produced in many different countries and with, apparently, different quality controls...
