The Bach Stradivarius model 6vii tenor trombone I am playing is a late 1940s vintage. It has a 7 inch bell and .485 inch bore, brass finish. The first thing I noticed about it was how well balanced it felt in my left hand. The second thing I noticed is how perfect the slide action is. Really smooth and moved with virtually no resistance or noise. The third thing is its tone; really warm and lush, rich, beautiful tone. And my most favorite thing is its performance in the high register, particularly tone and volume above high B-flat and up, is almost effortless and with terrific projection. I've been playing bones for over 50 years: Bach 12m, 16m, King 2B, 3B, Conn 4H, 6H and Yamaha pro tenor models, all of which are really great and reliable horns, with hardly ever a not so good one, but this little Bach 6m is the best of them all, particularly for lead work in dance band and small combo venues.
