Description: Key Specifications:
This is a FUN horn that puts out a sound that is way bigger than the horn's size. We just couldn't resist building our Pocket Rocket. GREAT PRICE on these as well. Check with a dealer near you for pricing and availability!

This horn puts out a BIG, BIG sound ...I LOVE IT! ~ Arturo Sandoval
P. S. - Arturo played a 5 minute mini-concert on this horn at our 2006 ITG booth. I think that the valves are still hot from that workout!

Pros: Big open sound, free blowing
Cons: Some interesting intonation challenges

I bought this horn for the several informal situations I play each year, such as a parade float, Christmas Carols and pep rallies, in short, just for fun.

It plays very well for such an inexpensive horn, much more open and free blowing than I expected when I picked it up.

As one would expect, the intonation takes some player adjustment. Some of the particulars caught me by surprise. For example, low D is actually flat. However, nothing is so far out of the norm that it is unmanageable.

I found it worked much better above the staff with a mouthpiece with a small throat.

Very enjoyable for the reaction it gets.

Pros: Good sound, better than expected. Good valves.
Cons: Plating discoloration on the bell. Tuning and valve slides are sticky.

For the price I paid I couldn't be happier. I got this horn so I could practice when I travel on the weekends. I even brought it with me when I spent this past summer studying in Rome (where I gave a mini-concert at a dinner one night with my classmates).

I expected some intonation problems, like the first reviewer mentioned, but they are not bad at all and easily adjusted for. On mine there's a discoloration on the bell that appears to be a problem with the silver plate. The valve guides are flimsy plastic, and the slides aren't as well aligned as in a pro trumpet. The slides are sticky even when oiled or greased.

In the positive it's the cheapest pocket trumpet I've seen that's not one of those things you find on eBay for $25 and $100 shipping. The valves don't stick and are very fast. It has a normal bell flair rather than a lip. I like the sound and it plays well above the staff. Mine came with a sturdy, well-designed case and generic 7C mouthpiece.

I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a cheap pocket trumpet. It costs less than the Jupiters and I think you get more here than what you pay for.
