Pros:
|
Easy blowing, excellent intonation, well-finished, fine balance, great mellow sound (as British-style cornets have) and a joy to play. Very smooth valve action. Smooth working slides and trigger mechanism.

|
Cons:
|
Only one Amado water key. One more would be helpful.

The cornet comes in a deluxe wood case, covereed with black material and plastic edging. Very smart. Also comes with Blessing 7C Cornet (silver) mouthpiece, bottle of Blessing valve oil, and Instrument Care Instructions. The Blessing B-141 that I purchased was in bright silver. I like the look and the tone that the bright silver offers. It was about $50 more which is a bargain. Would I purchase this Blessing instrument again. Yes! I am very pleased with the quality and workmanship of Blessing instruments.

Good intonation, quality silverplate, easy blowing, nice sound, excellent craftsmanship, quality case

Cons:

Only one Amado water key. Is this to save cost or or what?

Great tone and good intonation. Comes with Blessing 7-C silverplated mouthpiece which is heavy and seems to enhance the tone. Excellent details and bright silverplate finish. No elaborate engraving though. First valve slide trigger, and third valve slide finger ring. Smooth valve action, but requires break-in period. Slides move easily. Deluxe wood case (looks nice) and small bottle of Blessing valve oil provided. The case has has no mouthpiece hole, but I store mouthpieces in a ProTec case in the accessory compartment. A cleaning/ care instruction booklet is provided. I enjoy this horn very much and it is fun to play. It has a mellow, but vibrant tone using the Blessing mouthpiece. When I use a Denis Wick 4 mouthpiece, the horn gives a sweet, mellow, dark cornet sound. The Blessing mouthpiece colors the sound from dark to bright/brassy. I don't know the purpose of providing ONLY one Amado water key? It makes it hard to eliminate the condensation. Perhaps the company wanted to minimize leaks, but seems to me it is more of a a cost-cutting move. Two keys would seem to me more efficient in removing condensation. I don't know about other E.K. Blessing instruments, but this cornet is a good buy for the money and is adquate for the advanced student wishing to play a British-Style cornet. Looks good, handles well, sounds great!
