Every once in a while, Sam Ash purchasing makes a great decision, and this was one of Clyde's best.
Rather than negotiating with another Chinese vendor, they went straight to Amati, and the result is the 680, a wonderful student horn with a bright yet controlled sound, good intonation, and relatively low-maintenance valves. It performs as well as its direct competition from Bach and Yamaha, with a price that is around $200 less.
Colored finishes are available direct from Ash, although due to the inevitable frailty of the laquer, I would only reccomend them to a serious player that absolutely WANTS a colored horn (this one is decent enough to be played on stage for a few numbers) since students are much more prone to scratching the finish.
A solid buy and fun to play.

Please note that this makes a great beginner horn. Meaning if you've never played trumpet before and want to learn its a great horn and worth the price. However, if you decide to develop your playing skills you will have to eventually get a better trumpet.
Its actually a nice looking horn. When I first got it it was very shiny. The valves tend to be kind of slow so you will need alot of valve oil and slide grease.
I was playing an old crappy bach school trumpet and this horn was waay better than that old bach, so it is a good trumpet if you are an amateur player. But-like I said-if you decide to continue playing you will need a better horn.
