The "Select" tag was thrown onby Sam Ash, who claim this model to be exclusive to the Ash chain. In reality this horn is pretty much identical to a standard Eterna 700, which happens to be a very good thing.
The standard "best valves in the universe" are the most striking feature of this horn; I swear you could pour sand into the valve casings and they'd still move like butter.
All in all, a wonderful horn for the price, outshining student offerings from Bach and Yamaha for only slightly more money, this horn could easily last a student throughout their entire grade school career, and still have a place in their "arsenal" for brighter venues like marching and stage bands in college.

Excellent valve performance, and playability in extreme registers

Don't care for the 1st valve compensator
After playing nearly every horn on the wall, I found this horn easier to nail notes in the extreme low and high registers. Pedal tones were easier than most other horns as well as airflow above highC. I found the valves to perform flawlessly even while holding with one hand, which tends to pinch some valves and cause sticking or slow response in other horns. I came in with the intention of buying a Bach Strad, but found this horn to play better. Previous review said the horn had a brigh tone?? I found the thinner metal of this horn to give a fairly rich and warm tone for a silver plating. I didn't hesitate to pay the sticker price of $799. I did trade in a yamaha with sticky valves to get a $200 discount

While a Bach Strad is clearly better,one should keep in mind that it costs twice as much than the Getzen.As an intermediate model,this Getzen gets eveything done well.
