Cons: NOT a compensating system, as advertised on most websites

I had been looking for a baritone but was confused by this one. All photos I saw of it made it look like a 3+1 non-compensating system. I finally called a member of a brass band that played one and he told me that no, in fact it was non-compensating. I found one website that listed it correctly as non-comp. (http://www.mir-sales.co.uk/acatalog/barihorns.html) After several e-mails with the Yamaha rep, Brian Petterson, he finally e-mailed me and said that this had been miss labeled in their online description and that it was, in fact, a 4 valve non-compensating instrument. The price difference between these Yamaha 3 & 4 valve non-compensating baritones is on the order of the difference between the Yamaha 4 valve non-comp vs. the 4 valve compensating euphoniums, rather than the difference between the 3 & 4 valve non-comp euphoniums.

Bottom line - make sure you are not buying this for it's "compensating" valve feature, because I think that it's overpriced for just an additional non-compensating 4th valve.
